In October 2012 members of Karakalpak branch of UzSPB by support of International Foundation for Saving the Aral Sea carried out researches on 11 water bodies of Priaraliye region. Expedition covered Dautkul, Amudariya interfluve, Kutankul, Shilimkul, Khojakul and Mashankul lakes, Sarbass and Muynak bays, Karadjar, Makpalkol and Domalak systems of lakes.

Results of researches in Southern Priaraliye and Kyzylkum desert which were carried out by UzSPB and supported by Conservation Leadership & Save our Species programme allowed not only identify three new IBAs in Uzbekistan. They were also described in Sandgrouse magazine. On November 8-9, 2012 international conference "National model of development of institutions of civil society: experience of Uzbekistan" took place in Tashkent. The main organizer of the conference was Foundation for support of NGOs at Parliament of Uzbekistan. On the conference results of 21st grant competition were announced. UzSPB was one of 40 NGOs which won the competition and got financing to realize project "Development and implementation of educational kit for sustainable use of biodiversity resources".

On 24-26 April 2012 in Bedfordshire (United Kingdom) annual European and Central Asian Partnership meeting of BirdLife International EPM 2012 took place. It was organized by one of the oldest conservation organization in the world - Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

On April 1, 2012 the International Bird Day was celebrated in Uzbekistan. In this year world conservation community celebrated this ecological date for 110th time. Educational actions and bird watching events covered 4 regions of Uzbekistan and involved more than 400 children, students and grown ups.

On February 25, 2012 in Samarkand State University on the Faculty of Natural Sciences III Republican student conference of UzSPB took place. It was carried out in the framework of Rufford Small Grant Foundation Project "Interactive education program for student bird watching clubs - building a new generation of conservationists in Uzbekistan". It joined together 46 students and teachers from universities of 5 regions of Uzbekistan.

Every year Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds participates in International Waterbird Census (IWC) and carries out waterbird counts on water reservoirs and lakes in different regions of Uzbekistan. On January 15th 2012 about 30 members of UzSPB carried out waterbird counts in 4 regions of Uzbekistan.

In January 10-11, 2011 National Parks and Reserves Day was celebrated in Uzbekistan. In this day round-table discussions in Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan and in Main Forestry Administration took place. On these meetings UzSPB staff gave a talk about role and prospect of IBAs in biodiversity conservation.
