On March 30, the Annual General Meeting of UzSPB was held in Tashkent, at the conference hall of the Institute of Zoology of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. UzSPB members from Tashkent and four regions of Uzbekistan gathered together for the 13th time to take stock of the organization's work in 2018 and discuss the work plan for the current year.

International Bird Day events have come to the end. This year, the Bird Day was the most vivid and illustrative for the entire 12-year history in our country. Master classes and workshops in five regions of Uzbekistan brought together over 920 participants, including 210 schoolchildren from 12 schools! Children and their parents who attended Bird Days produced and installed over 1,000 protective stickers on windows of their houses that will save migratory birds from colliding with the glass.

«Wetlands and climate change» was the theme of the World Wetlands Day celebrated on February 2 in countries that ratified the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat. On this day, on the initiative of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds, five events devoted to research and protection of wetland were organized in Uzbekistan.

On December 1-17, territorial conferences on the election of delegates to the founding conference of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan were held across the country. 250 delegates were chosen to participate in the founding conference of the new party. List of the delegates included six UzSPB members of staff and individual members from Tashkent city, Namangan, Bukhara regions and Karakalpakstan.

This year, the International Waterbird Census (IWC) has been going on for three weeks! Waterbirds were observed in more than 140 countries of the world. As in previous years, Uzbekistan was widely represented on the IWC world map. Although the IWC results in our country did not surpass indicators of the last three years, they turned out to be quite successful. 33 people took part in winter counts at six reservoirs in Tashkent, Dzhizak, Samarkand, Bukhara and Namangan regions of our country. 40,193 waterbirds of 48 species were recorded. By the number of birds encountered, this is comparable to results of 2014, and by the number of species with results of 2016.
