On the International Bird Day, UzSPB managed to organize 16 events and draw attention of 780 people, including 380 children, to the birds-heralds of spring! In early April, the International Bird Day, the oldest children's ecological event, was celebrated for the 16th time in Uzbekistan. This year, the initiative of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds to hold the Bird Day of in our country was supported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Ministry came up with initiative to launch the 'Protect Birds' Republican youth contest.

The International Waterbird Census (IWC), held annually in our country on the initiative of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds (UzSPB), in January-February 2023 covered 15 water bodies important for wintering birds in 10 regions of the country. 70 IWC participants have registered more than 176,500 waterfowl of 66 species in Uzbekistan! Among them are 17 bird species included in the National and International Red Data Books. This year, the initiative of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds to conduct a winter census was supported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which carried out surveys on 6 water bodies in 6 regions of the country and provided the results of their observations for inclusion in the IWC international database.

Over the past weekend more than 19.000 people attended the EuroBirdwatch 2022, the biggest European birdwaching event. 35 national partners of BirdLife International across Europe and Central Asia invited people to more than 750 different events to observe the fascinating bird migration and see more than 4.6 million birds on their way southwards to their wintering places.
