This year, Spring Alive Coordinators met on 22-24 November in Bratislava, Slovakia during the Expert Meeting organized in the framework of Erasmus+ project 'Empowering Teachers and Pupils for a Better Life through Nature'. UzSPB attended the meeting and presented results of the Swift Emergency Campaign realised during 2016 SA season. After the meeting, Awareness Raising and Education Coordinator of UzSPB Oleg Kashkarov became a member of the SA Steering Group Committee.

On 3 September 2016, eleven world's leading conservation organisations, including BirdLife International and the RSPB, announced an ambitious new Key Biodiversity Area partnership. UzSPB has already identified seven IBAs that meet KBA criteria and suggested BirdLife to include them into the Key Biodiversity Areas list.

On 1 and 2 October, 2016, tens of thousands of eyes all over Europe and Central Asia will turn to the sky to witness the spectacle of bird migration at BirdLife Europe's annual Euro Birdwatch.

On July 2, 2016, Summer Meeting of the Ornithological Society of the Middle East, the Caucasus and Central Asia (OSME) took place at the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) in Thetford. Bird conservation in the OSME region was in the focus of the meeting. During the meeting Awareness Rising and Education Coordinator of UzSPB Oleg Kashkarov made presentation about UzSPB bird conservation projects. By the results of the meeting, UzSPB became an institutional member of OSME.

In the period from May 31 to June 6, 2016 The State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted "Environmental Week" dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Environment Day. Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds as one of the leading environmental organizations of our Republic, took an active part in a number of activities under the "Environmental Week".

June 9, 2016 the BirdLife International Secretariat reported on the inclusion of the site "Mashankul and Khojakul lake complex" in the International List of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas. This event was preceded by UzSPB research work on Mashankul and Khojakul lake complex, located in Kungrad and Muinak districts of Karakalpakstan.

In the spring 2016, Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds gave a start to the "Bird Tuesdays" campaign within the scope of the Spring Alive program and "Common Swift - Bird of the Year 2016" campaign. "Bird Tuesdays" - is an opportunity to instill in children an interest in nature and bird watching.

In the period from April 23 to May 12, 2016 celebration of the World Migratory Birds Day took place in three regions of Uzbekistan. 85 countries were involved this year. Bird festivals, educational campaigns and watching trips were held worldwide in order to attract attention to the problem of migratory birds.

On April 30, 2016 the 11th General Meeting of UzSPB took place. On the meeting reports and presentations about results of UzSPB work in 2015 as well as evaluation of work were made. Society's work in 2015 was evaluated as "good". In the agenda reports about executive directorate and branches activities, identification of key activities for 2016 and other questions were included.

In late March - early April 2016 the International Birds Day was celebrated in Uzbekistan. This year the celebration was held in the framework of Spring Alive program. Various festivals, tours, roundtables and events dedicated to this traditional spring environmental date, attended more than 1280 children and adults in five regions of our Republic.

January 16, 2016, the opening of a new student club "ECO BIRDS" at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography of the Namangan State University took place. This is the sixth student club, opened with the support of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds (UzSPB) since 2007.

On January 9-10, 2016 Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds and student birdwatching clubs took part in the International Waterbird Census (IWC) on 10 waterbodies and reservoirs in different regions of Uzbekistan. On the weekend 57 UzSPB members organized different events in 6 regions of Uzbekistan. They counted 106 603 waterfowls of 53 species.
