THE PROTECTION OF BIRDS
On January 13, 2019, Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds invites its members and supporters to take part in the traditional International Waterbird Census (IWC).
The IWC census is the largest and the oldest monitoring programme that allows conservationists to monitor wetlands in 143 countries around the world. The main purpose of the IWC is to monitor waterbird populations to identify and track threats.
According to IWC organizers, the Central Asian region is the most disturbing because of the decline in waterfowl numbers. In this regard, our task is to assist in collecting data for assessing the condition of bird species wintering in Uzbekistan.
On any of the days of January 5-20, the UzSPB invites everyone to conduct surveys and bird observations on reservoirs in their regions.
